The Boat Race

Alumni Anja Zehfuss ‘20 and Christine Cavallo ‘17 took on The Boat Race in the prestigious Oxford Blue Boat on Sunday, April 03.

The 2022 Boat Race marks the return of the event to the Thames in London for the first time since 2019 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Cambridge came out strong with a controversial move by the cockswain to pull directly in front of Oxford for the majority of the first leg (throwing dirty water toward Oxford in addition to the tough conditions). Oxford cox Joe Gellet lodged a protest to umpire Josh Gallagher over the Cambridge women crossing in front of his team, but was overruled. Unfortunately for our alumni, the move proved successful, steering Cambridge to the win.

Both teams earned the fastest finish in Championship Course history- a true testament to the strength and speed of the field.

RESULTS

Oxford: 18:29
