BIG TEN INVITE

The #2 Stanford Women traveled all the way to Sarasota, FL for the Big Ten Invitational at Nathan Benderson Park. It was a great way to get experience at the official NCAA venue as well as to compete against teams from several other conferences (Big Ten, Ivy, American), and test to see if the #2 overall ranking still held.

And, that ranking is still very much justified. The Stanford Women placed first in 11 of 12 races they entered over two days, and placed a close second in one of the V4+ events, edged out by Brown. In the events with a first place showing, the boats pretty much never trailed, and gradually built their leads starting at 750m and thereafter. The races may result in some reshuffling of the rankings; #13 Michigan performed a bit better than their spot; but Stanford was clearly #1 at this event and will likely retain their #2 overall in the polls next week. These races are still very important steps in building progress toward a rematch with #1 Texas.
